Jackie and Oran’s Howqua Lodge wedding in the Victorian High Country was one of those days where everything felt effortless. The kind of wedding where people forgot there was a photographer because they were too busy laughing, hugging, crying and soaking in every second together.
It’s exactly the kind of celebration I love documenting.
Set amongst rolling hills, towering gums and endless mountain views, Howqua Lodge created the perfect backdrop for a wedding that felt adventurous without losing its intimacy. It was relaxed, wildly fun, and full of genuine moments that couldn’t have been planned if they tried.
The Victorian High Country has a way of making every wedding feel cinematic.
Soft afternoon light stretched across the hills, the mountains framed every portrait, and the open landscape gave Jackie and Oran plenty of space to simply be together. Rather than chasing dramatic poses, we wandered, talked, laughed and let the scenery do what it does best.
Those are always my favourite photographs. The ones where the landscape complements the story instead of overpowering it.

If you’ve spent any time on my website, you’ll know I’m not interested in stiff posing. Jackie and Oran wanted photographs that felt like them, not like a photoshoot. So we kept things moving. We explored the property, chased beautiful light, gave them room to breathe and let the moments unfold naturally. The result is a gallery full of movement, connection and personality, exactly how I believe wedding photography should feel.
I’m so stoked that Jackie and Oran’s Howqua Lodge wedding was also featured in the Hello May – Real Wedding Special Volume 11.
It’s always amazing to see a wedding celebrated beyond the day itself, especially one filled with so much heart, laughter and personality.
If you’re planning a Howqua Lodge wedding or getting married anywhere in the Victorian High Country, I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up.
Whether you’re planning an entire wedding weekend or a laid-back celebration surrounded by your favourite people, I’ll be there to document the moments as they naturally unfold.
No awkward posing.
No forced smiles.
Just honest, cinematic photographs that feel every bit as real in twenty years as they do today.
